Loureen Bryant Plush, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and cherished teacher's aide, passed away on May 29, 2026, in DeRidder, Louisiana. Born on July 17, 1949, at Fort Riley, Kansas, Loureen dedicated a significant part of her life to nurturing and educating young minds. As a teacher's aide at Carver Elementary for over thirty years, she had a special gift for making every child feel valued and loved.
Loureen was known for her crafting skills, her delightful passion for coloring books, and her impressive collection of roosters. She was also a fantastic cook and will always be remembered for her unbeatable grape Kool-Aid. Family was everything to Loureen; she had a deep bond with her grandson, Ben and adored her nieces and nephews.
Loureen is survived by her loving spouse, Don Plush of Merryville, LA, and her son, Michael Phillips and Mary of DeRidder, LA; grandson, Ben Phillips; sister, Michelle Thompson; nieces and nephews, Jamie Lauing, Paige Abernathy, Brandon Plush, Vickie Ramie, Tiffany Bryant, Jacob Thompson, George Bryant, Robert Bryant, Benson Thompson, Jim Ed Blackmon, Brian Blackmon, Justin Blackmon, Josh Plush; special friend, Elaina Franklin and a host of great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
Loureen was preceded in death by her parents, JW and Margurite Bryant; brother, George Bryant; niece, Shannon Falgout.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, where family and friends can come together to honor her memory. A public viewing will precede the service, starting at 10:00 AM. Brandon Plush will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Jim Blackmon, Justin Blackmon, Brandon Plush, Joshua Plush, Josh Ramie, Robert Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Blackmon, Tony Falgout, Tanner Lauing, Bobby Abernathy, Darrin Ramie. Loureen will be laid to rest following the service at Cooper Cemetery in Merryville, LA.
Her warmth, creativity, and love for children will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
