Robert W. Bethea, DVM
Robert W. Bethea died at home on July 2, 2026. He is survived by his wife Lisa Prichard Bethea, son Jed Bethea, sisters Kay Bethea and Jan Kindred, dear cousin Kitti Rester, and extended family. He was born January 13,1946 in Baton Rouge and grew up there. After high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve. He attended LSU and graduated with a degree in animal science. In his 20's he spent four years in Australia because he had always wanted to go there. He traveled across the country working on cattle stations, surveying, doing a variety of jobs. After he got back to the states he worked as a bartender, carpenter, and a general contractor. He had always loved animals, especially dogs. At the age of 43 he returned to LSU to go to vet school. Being a veterinarian was finally the right fit. He was buried in Vernon parish in a family cemetery that he established at his beloved camp. His quiet passing and burial are very much in keeping with the private, unassuming way he lived. No attention. No fuss. If you knew him you understand.
