On July 1, 1959, Susan Diane Copenhaver was born to Donald and Juanita Hines Copenhaver. Sue passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 67 years and 4 days old.
From the time she was born, Sue tackled anything that came at her. Fiercely independent, she lived each day as she wanted and to the fullest. Although many may not know, Sue had an amazing talent as an artist. She has painted countless canvases and murals throughout the years. She also painted on various pieces of pottery that her dad baked in his kiln. Sue was raised around her parent’s dairy and later helped her parents tend to their renowned Daylily Gardens. Sue spent many years employed as a very sought after Pit boss by all of the casinos in Southwest Louisiana. Through her employment, she spent her days and nights meeting all kinds of people and loved every minute of it. Sue retired from her profession to come home and take care of her mom in her final years. After the passing of her mother, Sue continued to live life to the fullest with her fur babies and with family and friends that she held dear. She would often call and let family and friends know that she had cooked a meal and had plenty for them to enjoy and share. Sue had a spark that anyone who met her could see and her light touched people everywhere she went.
Sue is survived by her beloved pets who truly were her children; numerous cousins and their families along with countless friends she made through the years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Juanita Copenhaver and her brother, Gregory Copenhaver.
Sue’s final arrangements will be entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home for cremation. As per her wishes, no public service will be held and a private service for immediate family and friends will be at a later date.
The family would like to thank all of the Drs and medical staff who have cared for Sue in her final years and to Brighton Bridge Hospice for their care, specifically Nurses Layna and Kami; and the staff at Rosepine Rehabilitation Center for all you did for our loved one.
