It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Yvonne Neely Laurence, a beloved mother, grandmother, adventurer, and gifted baker, who left us on June 21, 2026, in her hometown of Merryville, Louisiana. Born on July 29, 1933, she lived a full and vibrant life, filled with love, family, and memories that will be cherished forever.
Rose was not only a devoted homemaker but also a founding member of Beth-El Church, where she and her husband, Joe, spent many years as loyal members. Their shared faith was an integral part of their lives until the challenges of COVID-19 kept them from their church community. Together, they enjoyed a wonderfully long retirement, filled with countless adventures traveling across the United States and exploring nearly every corner of the globe.
Anyone who knew Rose would attest to her incredible baking skills. She made the absolute best homemade ice cream, and her cakes and pies were magazine-worthy-especially that famous coconut pie. Rose had a particular fondness for perch fishing, where she found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Rose is survived by Keith and Brenda Laurence of Merryville, LA, Janae and Tim Robinson of Dallas, TX; sister, Sandra Hindle and Fred of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Aaron Robinson and wife, Kristy Cargile, Brandon Laurence, Alex Stone and husband, Zach, and Brittany Laurence, and a great-grandson, Ozro River "Ozzy" Stone, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. who will carry on her spirit and the countless memories they shared together.
Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty nine years, Joe Laurence; parents, Rudolph and Grace Neely; brother, Vernon Neely (Delores); sister, Velma Robinson (Avery).
To celebrate her life, a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, with a public viewing from 1:00 PM that same day. Brother Rex Johnson will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will be Keith Laurence, Tim Robinson, Aaron Robinson, Zach Stone, Brandon Laurence, Marcus Robinson. Rose will be laid to rest after the service at Cooper Cemetery where family and friends will gather to honor and remember a remarkable woman who touched many lives with her kindness, warmth, and delightful treats.
Rest in peace, Rose. You will be dearly missed.
