Chanika Da'Shay Doreen Davis
Chanika Da’Shay Doreen Davis was born on June 17, 1996 in Maywood, IL to the proud parents, Chamika Diane Roberson and James Spencer Piper.
Although she was born in Illinois, her home was always in DeRidder, LA. She attended DeRidder High School and graduated in May 2014. Chanika was a natural caregiver to her little sisters and brother, as well as her little cousin Demarco Watts. They were her “babies.” Housekeeping at Westwood Manor was her occupation for many years. She then decided to take her caring heart to ResCare. In the midst of her adolescence, she met the love of her life, Carl Jackson, whom was there through sickness, health, good and bad until God called her home to gain her wings.
Chanika loved her family, children and her best friend, Breanna Carhee. With love, she also enjoyed her solitude and gave no apologies for it. Strong minded, independent, a great sister, daughter, niece, and granddaughter are just a few words that paint her picture.
She transitioned from this life to her Heavenly home on December 15, 2021.
Chanika left to cherish her beautiful memories, her mother, Chamika Roberson (George) of DeRidder, LA; father, James Spencer Piper of Plano, TX; sister, Desiree Roberson; brother, Corion Roberson; bonus-mother, Janel Land of Houston, TX; grandmothers, Cynthia Johnson, Isadora Piper, both of DeRidder, LA; aunt, Chalonda Johnson and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Chanika was preceded in death by her sister, Chaniya Piper; grandfather, Elder James Piper, Jr; aunt Chanee Rose.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Dr. Derrick D. Johnson, of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church of Leesville will officiate the service.
