“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.”

— Isaiah 54:17

Portia Leniese Spivey was born on August 6, 1959, to the late Eddie Lee Spivey and Susie Mae Guy. She was also blessed with the love and guidance of her bonus dad, Pastor Louis F. Guy I.

Raised in DeRidder, Louisiana, Portia attended local schools and graduated from DeRidder High School with the Class of 1977.

Her passion for helping others began early. During her high school summers, she volunteered with the American Red Cross at Fort Polk Hospital, gaining experience in the laboratory and operating room.

Portia continued her education at Northwestern State University, where she trained as a phlebotomist. She later became a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, dedicating her professional life to caring for others.

She was employed at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in the Radiology Department as an ultrasound technician. During her 22 years of dedicated service, she compassionately cared for patients and willingly assisted her coworkers. Whether working weekends, taking calls, or responding to the needs of others, Portia could always be counted on.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Portia’s greatest devotion was to God and His people.

For more than 36 years, she faithfully served as a member of Christian Outreach Center in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Her ministry involvement included the Intercessory Prayer Team, Praise and Worship Team, Leadership Team, Evangelism Team, Transportation Ministry, Widows and Orphans Outreach, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Youth Department, Ministries of Helps, and Hospitality Ministry.

As a licensed minister and longtime Bible Study Teacher, Portia shared God’s Word and encouraged others in their Christian walk. She believed no assignment was too small and often remained after services to clean, assist, and serve wherever needed.

For more than three decades, she served under Apostle Carl and Mary Means and, during her final five years, under Pastors Chris and Charity Wyatt.

Her humility, compassion, and unwavering faith made her more than a church member—she was family.

On October 3, 2026, at the age of 67, Portia peacefully completed her earthly journey. Throughout her final season of illness, she demonstrated courage and faith while surrounded by the prayers and love of family, friends, and her church family.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her bonus dad, Pastor Louis F. Guy I of DeRidder, Louisiana; her siblings, Edwin Spivey (Dee-Dee) of Dallas, Texas; Mark Spivey (Carolyn) of Opelousas, Louisiana; Louis F. Guy II of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Reginald Guy Sr. of DeRidder, Louisiana; Regina Guy of Shreveport, Louisiana; and Rob Guy of Dallas, Texas.

She also leaves four uncles: Rueben Spivey (Rosa) of Los Angeles, California; Clifford Spivey (Linda) of Cedartown, Georgia; Gram Spivey (Dollie) of Kingsland, Georgia; and Alton Spivey of Cedar Bluff, Alabama.

Two aunts: Shirley Williams of McDonough, Georgia, and Shirley Francois of Dallas, Georgia; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, her beloved church family, and many cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Lee Spivey, and her mother, Susie Mae Guy.

Portia leaves a beautiful legacy of faith, compassion, humility, and service. She cared for the sick, taught God’s Word, prayed for others, and faithfully gave of herself wherever there was a need.

Though her earthly journey has ended, the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the example she set will forever remain in our hearts.

We thank God for the 67 years He allowed Portia to be part of our lives.

Rest well, Portia. Your earthly work is complete, your legacy lives on, and you will forever be loved.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
