William Wayne Wilson

William Wayne Wilson, a true craftsman and beloved father, passed away on September 29, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on October 20, 1940, in Jasper, Alabama, William spent his life making a mark in the construction world as a brick mason. He was one of the best in the business, not only known for his incredible skills but also for his willingness to teach his trade to others, especially his sons, Greg, Mark, Rusty and David.

For decades, William showed unmatched strength and an unwavering work ethic, often outworking younger folks on the job sites. Even as time went on, he never truly retired and could be found lending a hand to his sons until he could no longer manage. He was a generous soul, always ready to share whatever he had with those around him.

In addition to his work, William had a fondness for gardening and was enthusiastic about planting season. He also cherished his time with animals and found joy in his hobby of going to the horse races, famously describing the thrill of "feeding the horses."

William is survived by his loving children, Karen Kite and Blayne of DeRidder, LA, Greg Wilson of Florien, LA, and Mark Wilson of DeRidder, LA; brother, Al Wilson of Pearland, TX, sister, Virginia Ramsey; grandchildren, Christal Garrett and Eric, Duane “Buddy” Jeane, Steven Wilson and Tiffani, Samantha Wilson, Tiffani Venturella and Darlon, Trisha Marceaux; great grandchildren, Owen, Dylan, Gavin, Keidon, Lilly-Anna, Brady, Berkley and numerous other great grandchildren, who will forever carry on his legacy. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends will dearly miss him as well.

William was preceded in death by his sons, David Wilson and Steven "Rusty" Wilson; grandson, Kyle Wilson; parents, Jack and Vergie Wilson; siblings, Ann Wilson, Joe Wilson, Marshall Wilson, Bobby Gail Wilson, Gary Wilson.

A public visitation for William will take place at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, October 2, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Greg Wilson, Mark Wilson, Buddy Jeane, Steven Wilson, Owen Dearmon, Dylan Dearmon, Gavin Thompson. He will be laid to rest at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, Louisiana, on the same day.

His strong spirit, generous heart, and love for family and friends will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of William to God’s Food Box, the Humane Society of West Louisiana or any charity of your choice to honor his generous spirit.
