It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John William Greene, who left us on October 9, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on July 6, 1963, in Miami, Florida, John spent his life creating cherished memories and spreading joy to all who knew him. He resided in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, where he was a beloved husband, father, and friend.
John was a devoted family man, finding his greatest joy in the company of his wife and son Melissa and Hayden. He was often seen with a reflection of his kind heart, a true strong work ethic, and generous spirit. He enjoyed working as a Cellular Technician for Verizon Wireless for 23years. His passion for fishing brought him peace, serving as a backdrop for countless family gatherings and moments of reflection. He always enjoyed playing video games with his son, who he was immensely proud of, and watching movies with his family, even though he may have fallen asleep from time to time. John’s laughter and love will resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Greene; son, Hayden John Greene; Brother, Gus Eugene Greene Sr and wife Shanda; and nieces and nephews, Christina DeHart, Gene Greene Jr., Travis Greene, and Michael L. Greene II.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gus Edgar Greene Jr., and Linda Crowe Greene; Brother, Michael L. Greene; and Niece, Jennifer Greene.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 1:00pm in the chapel of Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Pastor George Lee Glass will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 11:00am until 1:00pm to honor John’s life and legacy. Family and friends are invited to join in remembrance, celebrating the laughter he brought and the love he shared.
John Greene may have departed from this world, but his light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him. He will forever be remembered for his love of his family, his strong work ethic, and the profound impact he had on all our lives.
