Seneca Bohanan

Seneca John Bohanan, age 49 of Lake Charles, LA, transitioned peacefully into the afterlife at home on September 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 27, 1977, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Albert H. and Zelia M. Bohanan.

Seneca attended St. Louis High School and graduated Washington Marion High School in 1995. During his high school years, Seneca was a phenomenal athlete that took pride in the memories and achievements made in high school. His dedication and natural talent earned him numerous opportunities and recognition.

Seneca was a devout Christian, steadfast in his faith, which guided him through his journey. After his lengthy battle against cancer, Seneca peacefully passed on, leaving behind a life full of love, memories and many people who cherished him. He leaves to mourn his wife, Jeannette; children, Jaelynn and Zaria; brother, Mike (Tamalyn); sister, Jackie (Craig); brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Lynnette Wilber; father-in-law, Michael Smith (Nancy); and his bonus sister and son, LaNeisha and Nehemiah. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends from his life. Seneca will especially be remembered for his strength and love for his family.

A loving husband to Jeannette, Seneca was a pillar of strength and support for his family. Together, they raised two daughters: Jaelynn and Zaria Bohanan. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and laughter. He cherished his wife and kids, and the time spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his brother Mark, his mother and father Zelia and Albert Bohanan, his mother-in-law Annette Smith, and his grandparents Annie and Tojan Simien and Dianne; Albert Harold Bohanan Sr.

Visitation for Seneca will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 5:00-8:00PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana with a Rosary following at 6:00PM. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Seneca will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Burial will follow the service at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.

If there were no love, there would be no grief. Though it breaks us, it is also our greatest reminder that we were lucky enough to love someone worth missing forever.
