It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our treasured, Wallace James, (WJ), age 86, of Rosepine, Louisiana. Wallace peacefully left this earthly world, for his heavenly kingdom, on the night of Wednesday October 28, 2026, surrounded by his wife Judy, his children, and grandchildren. Born August 31, 1940, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to Ersel (Black Snake) James and Jewel White James.
Wallace spent his early years starting his family, building an exceptional career in the oil field, and traveling all around the world. After nearly 30 years, Wallace retired from the oilfield, leaving behind a tremendous career, tons of memories, endless stories, and the only way of life he ever knew. In his retirement years, Wallace began working at the Vernon Parish Correctional Facility, where he worked until he physically could not anymore, basically running the place. He took pride in his work over the years and loved to share about his experiences while working there. Among the many things that he enjoyed, a good cup of black coffee, sitting on his porch, working in the yard, telling endless stories about his life and travels, and spending time with his family, were the most important to him.
After nearly 65 years of marriage, Wallace grew his family from just the two of them, to nearly 60 and counting. Above all else, family meant the most to him, and he took his role of husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather very seriously. He loved his family with all his heart and was cherished deeply by everyone in return.
He is survived by his wife Judy LeTendre James, his children, Dwayne (Terri) James, Randy (Kelly) James, Greg (Kelly) James, Paula Windham, and Debbie (Cliff) Townsley; brothers, Billy Ray James, Devon James, Gary James, Sonny James, and sisters, Charlotte James and Patricia Reynolds; 14 Grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jewel White James, Ersen James; sister, Frankie Nichols; brother, Fred James, and son-in-law, John Windham.
Although Wallace can no longer be here with us, he will continue to live on through the memories and stories of those who knew and loved him most. His legacy will forever remain and grow in the lives of the very ones he created and left behind.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a public visitation on November 3, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. A rosary will also be held at the funeral home at the same time. A graveside service will take place at 1:30 PM at Rosepine Cemetery, where we will gather to honor and celebrate Wallace's life.
