James Colton Jr., 73, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

James was born in DeRidder, LA to the late James Sr. and Pearline Colton on August 5, 1950. He received his education through the Beauregard School system and graduated in 1970. James enjoyed playing with his dog Mr. Rock, fishing and dancing, but his greatest joy was having fun with his grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of eighteen years, Myrtie Colton of DeRidder, LA; children, Comensuire Williams and Juan of Dallas, TX, Lashawanda Williams and Tyrone of Killeen, TX, James Carheel of Fort Worth, TX; step children;, Shelandria Lee of Beaumont, TX, Doneeta Johnson and Jimmy of Houston, TX, Jonathan Jones and Robertnica of Orange, TX, Corey White and Adrian of Newton, TX; brother, Earl Colton, Sr. of DeRidder, LA; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; special friends, Thomas Childs, Willie Cross, James Hodges and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Pearline Colton; brothers, Johnny Ray, Artis, Booker T., Jake, George Colton; sisters, Leslie Jones, Ethel Colton.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Mount Zion Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Reverend Carl B. Davis and Reverend Ronald Jarden will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Thomas Childs, Leon Freeman, Charles Butler, Johnny Brazzel, Trent Banks, Douglas Scott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Minister Lionel Smith,  Willie Cross, Justin Acker, Earl Colton, Jr. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
