Donna Lou Smith O'Neal

Mrs. Donna Lou Smith O’Neal better known as Grandma O, age 91, of Nolanville, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 1:33 P.M.

She was born January 6, 1930, in Enid, Oklahoma, a daughter to the late Reverand Bernard and Nellie Smith.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David Allen O’Neal, sister Delilah (Dee) Woolson, brothers Robert and Arden Smith, Son-In-Law Raymond Teston, and two Great Great-Grandsons, Nolan and Theodore Lokey.

She was a charter member of DeRidder (LA) Church of the Nazarene and found great joy serving others.

Donna lived the majority of her adult life in DeRidder, Louisana working side-by-side with the love of her life, David O’Neal. Together they owned several businesses including a chicken farm, Morton Foods, and O’Neal Packing Co.

Donna is survived by her daughters Brenda Sue O’Neal Teston of Nolanville, Texas and Peggy Jean O’Neal Hart, and her husband Paul of Bethany, Oklahoma, sister, Janelle Smith Hennigan of Norman, Oklahoma, sister-in-law, Sue Wells Smith of Houston, Texas, grandchildren: Anthony & Suzanne Teston, Allen & Terry Teston, Amanda Carroll, Alecia & Michael Head, Bryan & Becky Hart, Bradley & Tamara Hart, Shirlene Teston, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Donna’s father, Bernard Smith, was the founding pastor of the DeRidder Church of the Nazarene. She loved serving in the Church and was called to support Nazarene Missions International. She served as the NMI President for the Louisiana District Church of the Nazarene for 14 years. Her passion for spreading the Word and serving others offered her opportunities to travel to several countries and within the United States on Work and Witness Projects in service to God’s Kingdom as directed in The Great Commission:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Donna loved and supported her family and friends. She would travel the United States and Canada visiting family and friends and if she heard of someone being ill or needing help, she was the first to volunteer to go care for them. She always had an extra seat around the dinner table, an extra slice of homemade pie, and a warm smile to welcome you home. Her family was the pride of her heart, but Jesus was her Joy.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Blake Teston, Benjamin Teston, Jonathon Teston, Bryce Maddox, John-Michael Head, and Carter Hart. Honorary pallbearers are Barrett Teston, Brennen Hart, James Lokey, Andrew Pfundstein, Draven Adkins and Daniel Maddox.
