Arnold Vernon "A.V." Conner

Arnold Vernon “AV” or Arnie Conner, passed away at his home in Pitkin, LA, on May 8th, 2020, at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born December 26, 1947 in Wheeler, TX.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Frances Conner; sister, Mary Ann Conner and brother, Donald Earl Conner of Amarillo, TX.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Gleda Ann LaCaze Conner of Pitkin, LA; daughters, Connie Connor Smith and Charlotte Conner Bordine; sister, Nelda Conner Sharp of Oklahoma City, OK.  Arnie is lovingly remembered by his sons-in-law, Joseph “Joe” Smith and William “Billy” Bordine.  “Paw-Paw Bear” will be held in the hearts and minds of his seven grandchildren, Sean Patrick Conner Smith, Chance O’Neal Bordine, Candyce Smith Clark, Shelby Ann Bordine Johnson, Holly Smith Strother, Haley Smith Harrelson, and Julie Ann Smith Odom, and a host of other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.


Arnie worked in the oil field most of his life and retired as a Senior Field Superintendent with Exxon after “32 years, 3 months and 12 days” of dedicated service.  AV made lifelong friendships with his oilfield colleagues that he considered his work family.


Private visitation and funeral service will be held at Six Mile Pentecostal Church in Pitkin, LA.   Brother Lewis Robertson will officiate the service.  Pallbearers will be Karl Grevenberg, Greg LaCaze, Mark Clark, Travis Trammell, Chris Clark and Sam Reeves.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Smith, William Bordine, Sean Smith and Chance Bordine.  Burial will follow at BlackJack Cemetery in Grant, LA.
