Wanda Sue Whitley Franklin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wanda Sue Franklin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, who left this world on June 16, 2025, in Deridder, Louisiana. Born on September 24, 1939, in Anacoco, Louisiana, to Athern and Pearl Whitley. Wanda was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her.

 Sue dedicated her life to her family and her work as a hairdresser in the cosmetic industry, where she not only brought beauty to others but also shared her love and laughter through her craft. She was the glue that held her family together, cherished for her storytelling and the countless memories created during fishing trips and family gatherings.

 Wanda Sue is survived by her husband of 67 years, Sherman Franklin, two children, Brenda Perkins and husband Ebbie Perkins of DeRidder, LA and Richard Franklin and wife Rhonda of DeRidder, LA, Five Grandchildren, Eric Perkins, Brittany and Davy Arnold, Evan and Kayla Perkins, Sam and Bethany Franklin, and Kyle Franklin. Six Great Grandchildren; Kaden, Lily, Layla. Emmett, Bennett, and Allen.

She is proceeded in death by her parents.

Sue’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at Pleasant Hill Church on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Brother Danny Wilson and Brother Jonathan Walker will officiate the service. The visitation will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Pleasant Hill Church. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Deridder, Louisiana.

Wanda Sue embodied love, resilience, and compassion, and she will be profoundly missed by her family and all who had the privilege to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider memorial contributions in her name, honoring her generous spirit. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
