It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vanessa Ann Walker, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, who departed this life on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in Deridder, Louisiana, at the age of 60.She was born on September 9, 1964 in Opelousas, LA. Surrounded by her faith and loving family, Vanessa’s spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Vanessa is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Gabriel Walker, and their cherished sons and crown jewels of her life, Quincy Walker of Houston, TX and Cody (Kaitlyn) Walker of Charlotte, NC, Mother Rose Broussard of Prairie Ronde, LA, sister Sheila (Adrian) Guidry of Prairie Ronde, LA and a host of nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph R. Broussard.
She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She took great joy in attending mass and serving as a lecturer at Sunday services.
Throughout her life, Vanessa exemplified the meaning of unconditional love. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and she filled her home with laughter, warmth, and kindness. Vanessa’s passion for her children extended beyond her own, as she dedicated time and energy to nurturing and guiding the young lives she encountered.
She was her son’s number 1 cheerleader. Often cheering, screaming louder than anyone during Quincy’s recitals and offering full support for all of Cody’s endeavors.
She was an exercise enthusiast and often ran 5k road races. Always a great cook, baker, and friend. She loved dancing, listening to music, watching movies and playing board games with her family.
Vanessa graduated from Plaisance High School, Plaisance, LA and from the University of Louisiana – Lafayette with a degree in business administration. She held several jobs and retired from Amerisafe in Deridder, LA in 2015 and devoted the rest of her life to family, friends, and her passions.
In honoring Vanessa’s life and legacy, a Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday June 28, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder, LA at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Father Wayne LeBleu.
Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home.
Vanessa was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.
Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her life for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
