Obituary

In loving memory of Tony Devette Johnson, born on August 11, 1959, in Deridder, Louisiana, who passed away on August 5, 2026, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was a graduate from Merryville High School and better known to family and friends as “Vet” or “DanMan”. Tony was a remarkable man whose infectious laughter and warm spirit brought joy to everyone he encountered. With a true gift for making people smile, he had an unwavering ability to lift the spirits of those around him.

Tony was married to his wife Lour Jean Jordan Johnson, for 32 years before she passed in 2016. Together they had one daughter: Lori Evette. Tony worked for 17 years at Beauregard Memorial Hospital as a Floor Technician. He had a passion for BBQ grilling and often gathering with friends and family to share in the wonderful meals he prepared with love. His love for fishing was another cherished pastime, providing him with moments of tranquility and reflection in nature. Above all, Tony was known for his heart of gold as a testament to his compassion and kindness towards others.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lori Jordan Martin (Justin), stepsons: Emmitt Jordan and Clement Jordan, child at heart: Jarrett Allen and Daniya Young, sister at heart: Gwen Flemones (Archie), mother: Myrtle Heath, brothers: Calvin Greene, Erol Wayne Greene (Juareen), and David Heath, sisters: Sharon Greene, Debra Jones, Lisa Thomas, Alice Greene, Guamma Goff (Terrell), and Lola Williamson (Robert) with a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar Johnson Jr., his adopted parents: Oscar and Ella Mae Johnson Sr., brothers: Lionel Greene, and Milton Thomas Jr., sisters: Lynette Greene and Destiny Heath. A public viewing will take place at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. After the service, Tony will be laid to rest in Merryville North Community Cemetery, in Merryville, Louisiana. Pastor Terrance Hicks will be officiating the services.

As we come together to celebrate Tony's life, we invite all who knew him to share in the memories and love he imparted to us all. He will be deeply missed yet remain forever in our hearts.
