It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sylvia Ann Hebert Nichols, who left us on June 10, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on February 28, 1958, in Port Arthur, TX, Sylvia spent her life in Merryville, LA, where she embraced her love for family, flowers, and making memories.
Sylvia had a vibrant career in retail, beginning at West Brothers and later becoming a florist at Green's Flowers in DeRidder before finishing her journey at Walmart in Leesville. She had a special knack for creating beauty in all she did, especially when it came to her beloved crepe myrtles and other plants that her son, Travis, was fortunate enough to plant throughout their yard.
Her passion for flowers was matched only by her love for family. Sylvia cherished the time spent with Carol and many other close friends. Together, they made countless trips to Forest Hill, where they would buy trees and flowers, sharing laughter and good times along the way.
Sylvia was the family's dedicated photographer, capturing precious moments that will be cherished forever, filling over twenty totes with photographs from every family gathering. She loved her yearly vacations with Stanley, Carol, and other Hebert family members, exploring beautiful places like California, Arizona, and Hawaii.
Whether it was enjoying the sun on Stanley's boat at the lake or gathering with family at the camp in Basile for cookouts and four-wheeling adventures, making memories with loved ones was Sylvia's greatest joy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Travis Nichols and Ashley of Merryville, LA; her beautiful granddaughter, McKinley Nichols; brothers, Stanley Charles Hebert and Debbie of Merryville, LA, Carl Hebert of Merryville, LA, Corey Melancon and Nicole of Youngsville, LA; sister-in-love, Carol Hebert and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wayne Nichols; son, Dustan Nichols, father, Stanley Hebert; mother, Barbara Ann Evans Hebert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sebe and Faye Nichols.
Funeral services will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, where family and friends can pay their respects on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at a Cannon Cemetery in Merryville, LA. Brother Roger Longoria will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Richard Hebert, Michael Hebert, Quentin Hebert, Canen Hebert, Daniel Brister and Blaze Brister.
Sylvia will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In her honor, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives and continue to make beautiful memories, just as she would have wanted.
