It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sussie Ardessa Hickman Swilley, who left us on September 17, 2026. Born on October 26, 1943, in Texas, Ardessa was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, known for her warm smile and lively spirit.

Ardessa has resided in Jennings for the past fifteen years, but spent much of her married life in Merryville. She was very fortunate to have traveled the world with her husband during his time of employment in the oilfield.

Ardessa worked as a dietary aide in hospitals and nursing homes for many years, and she was a proud member of Green Oak Baptist Church. She had a deep love for people, which she expressed through her countless games of cards, bingo, and dominoes. Ardessa was especially known as the dominoes champion at the nursing home, and she often enjoyed exercising and playing board games at the Council on Aging. A puzzle enthusiast, she loved tackling Sudoku challenges in her spare time.

Ardessa is survived by her daughter, Sherry Hieronymus (Darrell) of Roanoke, LA, son, Mark Swilley of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren, Scott Miano (Ashley) of Lake Charles, LA, Andrew Hieronymus (Sabrina) of Baltimore, MD, Suz'Anne Hieronymus of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, Connor Miano, Callie Miano, Averie Hieronymus, Liam Hieronymus; sisters, Oline Brashier of Jasper, TX, Sherlyn Hickman of Groves, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will always cherish the memories of their time together.

Ardessa was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Swilley; parents, Orivis and Era Hickman; brothers, Orland Hickman, Hardy Hickman; sister, Guanda Crustner.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, with a public visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Reverend Darrell Hieronymus will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Liam Hieronymus. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Bivens Cemetery in Merryville, LA.

In celebrating her life, we remember the joy she brought to others and the way she made every game night special. She will be missed dearly but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Ardessa's family would like to thank Camelot Brookside Nursing Home for their compassionate care throughout the ten years she resided there and they appreciate the quality of care provided by LAMM Hospice to their loved one during her final days.
