DeRidder, Louisiana

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Coleman Bailey, a beloved mother, caregiver, and friend, who left us on March 30, 2026, in DeRidder, Louisiana. Born on April 26, 1945, in DeQuincy, Louisiana, Shirley lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and church.

Shirley was a true Godly woman who found great joy in her faith. Her love for her church, Brushy Creek Baptist Church, was evident in her faithful reading of the Bible and her enthusiastic participation in church activities. For many years, she eagerly made all the cookies for Vacation Bible School, bringing sweetness to the lives of countless children.

Known for her love of cooking, she cherished the time spent preparing meals for her family gatherings. Her background as a fisherman's daughter led her to develop a special fondness for fish and shrimp, both in her cooking and her heart. Family meant everything to Shirley, and she always looked forward to having everyone together, creating warm memories filled with laughter and love.

Shirley is survived by her loving children: son, Nathan Boyd (Paula Cofty) of Bon Wier, TX; daughters, Natalie Smith (John Green) of Deweyville, TX, Vanessa Conner (Linus) of Toledo Bend, LA, and Rhonda Davis (Aubrey) of Newton, TX and host of beautiful grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Bailey; parents, Robert and Sarah Coleman; son, Melvin Boyd and a host of siblings.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 3:00 PM, where she will be laid to rest, surrounded by the beauty of the place she cherished so much.

Shirley Mae Bailey will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and dedication to her family and faith.
