Shellie Mae Freeman Gatson, 85, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, April 25, 2019.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Larry Freeman of New Orleans, LA, Gary Marks of Oakland, CA, Karl Gatson and Lindy of Lake Charles, LA, Dan Gatson of Lake Charles, LA, Anthony Gatson and Shawnna of Lake Charles, LA, Edwin Gatson of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Kathleen Marks, Ernestine Gatson, Angelia Gatson, and Anita Gatson, all of DeRidder, La, Kimberly Gatson of Lake Wales, FL; brothers, MacArthur Freeman and Dianna of Houston, TX; 25 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Gatson; daughter, Clara Jean Prator; parents, Robert and Clara Freeman; brothers, Charles, Reuben, Bobby, Gilbert, and Henry Freeman; sisters, Ezora Freeman, Jessie Mae Johnson and Viola Nargo.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 3, 2019 at Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA.  Brother Alvin Peters, Sr.  will officiate the service.  Burial will follow at Almadane Cemetery in Almadane, LA.
