Samuel Perez, Jr.

November 20, 1939 — January 7, 2026

Rosepine, Louisiana

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Samuel Perez Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Born on November 20, 1939, in Jim Hogg County, Texas, Samuel lived a life filled with dedication and love until he departed on January 7, 2026, at the age of 86.

Samuel was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, enlisting in August of 1959, and retiring at the rank of First Sergeant on September 30, 1980. He wore his uniform with pride and was always willing to share stories from his time in service. His love for his country and community was evident in everything he did.

After his military career, Samuel took to construction for another 10 years. He was the go-to handyman in the town of Rosepine and he was always just a phone call away if anything needed fixing. Samuel's larger-than-life personality, generosity, and knack for helping others made him a cherished figure in his community-everyone knew and loved him. His favorite hobbies included woodworking and welding, which he was very good at.

A devoted family man, Samuel is survived by his three daughters, Sandra McMullen and David, Sylvia Perez and LJ Bass, Jr., Stella Pitre and Ricky, all of Rosepine, LA; his grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy, Ashley Perez and Phillip McCollough, Zeke Sanders, Steven Acord, Michael Perez, Shyanne Pitre, Neal McMullen and Tabatha; five great grandchildren; his caretaker and bonus grandchild, Jamacia Bell and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was always there for his family, offering support and wisdom whenever it was needed.

Samuel was preceded in death by his loving wife, Yoneko Perez; parents, Samuel and Tomasa Perez; daughter, Sarita Perez; brother, John Barrera.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a public viewing at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM, where we will gather to celebrate the life of this incredible man. After the service, Samuel will be cremated, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

As we say goodbye to Samuel Perez Jr., we hold onto the laughter, the memories, and the love he shared with us. He will be missed dearly.
