Rubie Helen Cryer

Rubie Helen Cryer, 88, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Mrs. Cryer was a nurse and helped establish the first Cardiac Unit at Willis-Knighton Hospital in Shreveport. She retired from the State Behavioral Hospital in Pineville, LA after over 40 years of service.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Sherrie Holden and husband Douglas of Glenmora, LA; goddaughter, Marilyn Fletcher and husband Wiley of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Karla Eaves, Glenda Robinson, Bobby Cryer, Tonya Cryer, Jazon Fletcher, Arien Arnold, Kailey Fletcher and Brandy Stokes and 12 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Gola Smith; sisters, Lee Richey, Maxine Cutts and Evelyn Dion; brother, Connie Lewis; sons, Sherrill Cryer, Nathaniel Cryer, and Wayne Cryer; grandson, Wayne Cryer, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA from 3:00pm until 8:00pm and also on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Camp 8 Pentecostal Church in Otis, LA from 11:00am until 2:00pm.  Funeral services will be on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 2:00pm at Camp 8 Pentecostal Church in Otis, LA.  Burial will follow at Camp 8 Cemetery in Otis.
