Rosalind Anita Jeans Maricelli, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born on September 14, 1941, in DeRidder, LA, Rosalind was a devoted homemaker who poured her heart into her family and community.
She is survived by her two daughters, Yvonne Grant and Mark of Natchitoches, LA, Christine Midkiff and David of Many, LA; her sister, Tana King and Bobby of Merryville, LA; and her grandchildren: Laura Wolf and Derek, Jamie Perez and Rolando, Ryker Grant, Henry Grant and Charlie, Ian Grant; great grandchildren, Micheal, Willow and Zoey Grant, Cameron Wolf and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Rosalind was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "JM" Maricelli; son, Neal Maricelli; parents, James Odis and Mildred Jeans.
Rosalind's green thumb thrived in her garden, where she nurtured beautiful orchids and spent countless hours cultivating her love for gardening. She had a passion for hiking and camping, often embarking on adventures along the Appalachian Trail with her sister, where they created memories to last a lifetime. A fantastic cook, she was famously known for her homemade donuts and took pride in canning her delicious creations. Rosalind cherished the company of others, always valuing fellowship and laughter.
An avid reader, Rosalind enjoyed diving into books until her health began to decline. Daily, she would tune in to Fox News, cranking the volume up to ensure she didn't miss a beat of the news cycle. Notably, at the age of 45, she earned her black belt in Tai Kwon Do, proving that it's never too late to embrace new challenges.
For many years, Rosalind was an active member of the Lone Pine Church of Christ in Merryville, where she made lasting friendships and contributed to her community.
Rosalind's family will be hosting a graveside funeral service to celebrate her remarkable life. The graveside service will be Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Meadows Cemetery in Merryville, LA, where we will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and find comfort in each other's company. She will then be laid to rest at Meadows Cemetery in Merryville, LA surrounded by love and remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a local charity in her name, reflecting Rosalind's passion for giving back and supporting her community. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
