It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Dale Cotton, who left us on March 28, 2026, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Born on October 20, 1953, in Zwolle, Louisiana, Roger was a beloved husband, a talented funeral director, and a skilled embalmer who dedicated many years to serving families in funeral homes throughout the state of Louisiana.
Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife of eight years, Cheryl Cotton of DeRidder, LA; sons, Kevin Dale Cotton and Keith Cotton; stepchildren, Wendy Lewis and BJ, Heather Merideth, Mikie Merideth, Ricky Merideth, Christina Thomas; sister, Marshal Miller; a very special bonus child, Justin; three grandchildren, twenty-three step grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, "Pete" and Ruth Cotton and a host of aunts and uncles.
Roger had a passion for life - whether he was belting out his favorite tunes at karaoke, enjoying the great outdoors, or immersing himself in his hobbies like hunting and fishing. He was also a talented taxidermist, proudly displaying his work and sharing the stories behind each piece.
In his quieter moments, you could find Roger playing solitaire on his computer, often with a light-hearted joke or two on his lips. He had a unique ability to uplift those around him and a friendship that meant the world to many.
A graveside service will be held at Beulah Cemetery in Marthaville, Louisiana, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM, where we will gather to celebrate the life of this extraordinary man. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 AM, also at the graveside. We invite all who knew and loved Roger to come together to honor his memory.
Though Roger may have left this world, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rest easy, dear friend. You will be missed.
