Merryville, Louisiana

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger "Blue" Lynn Brister, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, who left us on May 10, 2025, at the age of 57. Blue was born on September 22, 1967, in Pineville, Louisiana, and spent his life in Merryville, where he became known as one of the best equipment operators in the logging industry.

Blue was a hardworking man who took great pride in his craft. He loved nothing more than spending his free time outdoors, often found fishing at the pond with his dogs by his side. He enjoyed mowing the lawn, riding horses, and trying his luck at the casino. Above all, Blue cherished the moments he spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought him immense joy and laughter.

Blue leaves behind his devoted children, Michael Brister and Tonya of Merryville, LA, Michelle Brister of Galveston, TX and Monica Brister of DeRidder, LA, and his loving siblings: brothers, Charles DeWayne Brister, Jewes Cool and Sharon, all of Merryville, LA, and sisters, Brenda Eaves and Dan of Merryville, LA, Rhonda Thompson and Jim of Merryville, LA; sisters-in-law, Pamela Whatley of Newton, TX, Molly Arnold and Bill Brittain of Evans, LA; grandchildren, Spyncer, Joey, Laylah, Maddie, Abigail; great grandchild, Diana "Punkin"; special friend, Denise Wheaton; fur babies, Tootie and Marlie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He touched the lives of many with his warm spirit and kind heart.

Blue was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa "Missy" Brister; son, Mark Brister; parents, Charles "Buck" Brister and Fairlean Higginbotham Brister; siblings, Daniel "Patch" Allen Brister, Shonda Darlene Stamps; nephew, Charles "Bugger" Brister.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Merryville Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Blue's life.
