Richard Gary Wilson

Richard Gary Wilson was called home on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 7:19 AM surrounded by family.  He was of the young age of 72 years.  He was born July 19, 1943 in Talladega, AL.  He was a brick mason for 50+ years up until the time of his illness.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Negreet, LA as well as the Sportsman’s Bass Club of Southwest Louisiana for 30+ years.  His passion for fishing drew him from fishing hole to fishing hole on Toledo Bend Lake.  His inspiration and influence was far reaching, well beyond hunting and fishing. His ambition for success translated into all aspects of life, guiding others thru their journey to achieve their highest potential.

He was of non-denominational faith, his love for Jesus Christ and the gospel were central to his character.  As much as he loved hunting and fishing, he loved God above all and reading and studying his bible.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen Marie Burge Wilson, his son: Richard Allen Wilson, his daughters:  Debbie Renee Draper, Sheila Marie Duncan, Kimberly Suzanne Simmons (Tony), Kerry Lynn Lack, and Anneliese Jane McGregor, all of DeRidder, LA, twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a very special friend Janice Williamson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 PM at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Grace Church in DeRidder, LA. Burial will follow at Newlin Cemetery in Singer, LA.
