Penny Erskine Fincher, 68, of Merryville, Louisiana, passed away on April 23, 2026, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 12, 1957, in Hornell, New York. Penny was a devoted wife, mother, nana, and great-nana whose life was centered around love, family, and quiet strength.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Billy Fincher; her four children, Rene, Lee (Ashley), Leslie (Brayden), and William (Kirstyn); her ten grandchildren, Stoen, Col, Jolie, Rylee, Brynli, Addison, Aubri, Preston, Clayton, and Griffin; and her four great-grandchildren, Alesana, Victor, Ryneseme, and Oliver.
Penny had a gift for making a house feel like home. She loved to craft, sew, and crochet, often creating special pieces for her grandchildren that will be cherished for years to come. She was known as an incredible cook, always bringing people together around her table.
She found joy in the outdoors, especially trips to the beach where she loved collecting seashells with her grandchildren. She also loved fishing with her children and grandchildren any chance she got, making memories that will be treasured forever.
Though small in stature, Penny was mighty in spirit. She was always there to lend a listening ear or a helping hand, rarely turning anyone away. She was kind, gentle, and loved fiercely. She didn’t always say much, but when she did, her words carried meaning and wisdom. Above all, she will forever be remembered as “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—a title she wore with deep pride and unconditional love.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Family will receive flowers or sentiments to William and Kirstyn Fincher.
