Paul Murphy Pruitt, Jr. was born on October 31, 1961, in DeRidder, Louisiana. Therefore, his name known to most was “Spooky”. His parents were Paul Pruitt, Sr. (deceased) of Singer, LA and Jeanette Johnson Pruitt Pelt. Most of his life, Spooky resided in Beauregard Parish.
Cherishing his memory are his mother, Jeanette Pelt of DeRidder, LA; brother, Billy Wisby (Angela) of Pitkin, LA; sisters, Tanya Smith of Toledo Bend, LA and Monica Pruitt Cantrell (Steven) of Galveston County, Texas, his brothers residing in Texas, Timothy Pruitt and Kevin Pruitt (Carla).
Spooky never married or had children of his own, but he loved his nephews and nieces and their children. He leaves behind many cousins and friends. His best friends were the Weeks brothers and the Wilson brothers, and he was at Mrs. Louise Weeks’ house so much, she considered him one of her own. He also had several stepbrothers and sisters, Renee Goins, and the Pelt children of his stepfather, Kenny Pelt (deceased) of Pitkin, LA.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:30 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Michael Bonds will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be (Nephews), Kristopher Cantrell, Shane Cantrell, Tommy Wisby, Levi Wisby, Derek White and Joseph Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be (Great-Nephews), Kash Wisby, Kolten Cantrell, Sheldon White, and Easton Cantrell. Burial will follow the service at Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
