Pamela Higgins Manuel, 82, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Born on October 25, 1943, in Scotland, Pamela's life was a beautiful testament to faith, compassion, service, and unconditional love. In August of 1970, she met the love of her life, Normand Manuel. They were married on April 16, 1971, and together built a life in Louisiana that was filled with love, laughter, faith, and family. For more than five decades, they shared a marriage rooted in devotion, friendship, and unwavering commitment.
Pamela dedicated 46 years of her life to the nursing profession, answering a calling to care for others. She spent 14 years working alongside Dr. Louviere and nine years at St. Patrick Hospital, where she was respected not only for her skill as a surgical nurse but also for the kindness and compassion, she showed every patient and coworker. Nursing was more than a career to Pamela—it was one of the many ways she shared her servant's heart.
In 2010, Pamela gave her life to the Lord at Christway Church. Her faith became the foundation of everything she did. She was known for faithfully praying for others, offering encouragement, and quietly serving those in need. She was also a proud and steadfast supporter of the United States military, always keeping service members and their families in her prayers.
Pamela found joy in preserving life's precious moments. She had a remarkable gift for documenting family memories, milestones, celebrations, and everyday moments that might otherwise have been forgotten. Because of her thoughtfulness, generations of her family will forever have those memories to treasure. She was also an accomplished seamstress whose talent and creativity brought beauty and joy to many.
To know Pamela was to know genuine kindness, quiet strength, and selfless love. She welcomed others with warmth, cared deeply for her family and friends, and lived each day with a generous heart. Her greatest joy was found in the people she loved and the memories they created together.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 55 years, Normand Manuel; her children, Scott Manuel and wife Sandra, and Stephanie and husband John; her cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Michael, Dwight, Scott Jr., Destiny, Julia, Dustin, Brianna, Cortland, and Brayden; 10 cherished great-grandchildren; her brother, David Higgins of the Isle of Man; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.
While her family mourns the loss of her earthly presence, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. They find comfort in knowing she has been welcomed home by her Savior, whom she faithfully loved and served. Her legacy of faith, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love will continue to live on in every life she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Christway Church in DeRidder, Louisiana.
