It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Otha Mae Tucker, who left us on June 6, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on September 12, 1948, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Otha lived a remarkable life filled with love, service, and a big heart.

Otha proudly served in the U.S. Army for nearly 24 years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As a dedicated Medical Surgical Nurse, she made a lasting impact on countless lives, especially during her time at Fort Polk (now Fort Johnson) after her retirement. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her military service; Otha was an active volunteer in her DeRidder community and a cherished member of Grace Church and New Life Baptist Church.

Known for her loving spirit, Otha touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a passion for taking long walks, gardening, and, of course, shopping!

Otha was surrounded by the love of her family, including her brothers, Otis Tucker, David Lee Tucker and Solomon Robertson, all of Tuscaloosa, AL; her beloved niece, Angela Goodale of Tennessee; her loving bonus daughters, Denise McFadder and Gregory, Angela Sylvester and Terry, Dana Jones and Jean Spikes, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Otha was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Lula Bell Tucker and several siblings.

Otha Mae Tucker will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service with full military honors will be held on a date to be announced at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA. Ceremonies honoring her life and contributions will follow, celebrating her unwavering spirit and the countless lives she touched.

A memorial service with military honors will be Friday, June 13, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local community organizations she loved. Otha's heart of gold will continue to shine in the stories and memories shared by her family and friends.
