Mitzi Yvonne Nix Thompson of Rosepine, LA, went to be with her Lord and Savior, at the age of 91, on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Leesville, LA.

Mitzi also known as “Wolf”, MeMaw and Aunt Mitzi loved people and never met a stranger. Her life revolved around the love of her life, Pete, her family and her many, many friends. Mitzi was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of seventy-six years, “Pete”; three children, Cecile Dunn of Natchitoches, LA, Myron Thompson and Elaine of Florien, LA, Leslie Kodrin and Jack of Rosepine, LA; sister, Margie Zimmerman of Springhill, LA; grandchildren, Kelli Dunn Carter, Jeremy Dunn, Farrah Miller, Neil Thompson, Kile Kyle, Chad Blankenbaker, Cody Blankenbaker, Chase Blankenbaker; niece, Connie Savoie, nephew, Donnie Zimmerman; lifelong friends, Mary and James Giddings, Raffie and Gene Reeves, Helen Lassard and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Barge Nix and Yule Esther Dingler Nix; sister, Anita Merle Nix; and son-in-law, Reynolds Ray Dunn.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Brother Gary Bankson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Dunn, Chad Blankenbaker, Cody Blankenbaker, Chase Blankenbaker, Neil Thompson, Blake McNeely, Austin McNeely, Matt Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Trever Carter, Peyton Carter, Tatum Thompson, Kaden McNeely, Jared Kodrin and sons, Ethan, Aiden, Kylar, Kristian. Burial will follow at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.

The family would like to thank her friends and the staff of the Woodlands Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion. They would also like to say a special thank you to DeeDee Dunigan for all of your support during this difficult time.
