Melvin "Poolem" "Dog" Martin, Jr.

November 14, 1946 - January 25, 2015

Melvin “Poolem”-“Dog” Martin, Jr., 68, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, January 25, 2015.  Those left to cherish his memory are his son, TaRiccus Jay Martin, Sr. and wife Clarice; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Willie Alfred Cubbs and Douglas Hunt; sisters, Landus Patterson, Norvella Hadnot and husband Thomas, Vivian Robson and husband Leamon, Jr., and Stephanie Bryant-Inyard and husband Darius, and a host of family and friends all of DeRidder.  He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Martin, Sr.; mother, Lucille Newman-Martin; sisters, Maxine Joyce, Homerzelle Newman; granddaughter, Diamond Keirra Pearl Martin; and nephew, Keithan Bryant.

Visitation and Funeral service will be Friday, January 30, 2015 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA.  Visitation will begin at 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am.  Burial will follow at Starlight Cemetery in DeRidder.  Rev. Freddie Thomas will officiate.
