It is with deep sadness we announce that our precious mother, Marie Verlene Miller, passed away on July 23, 2025, in DeRidder, Louisiana at the age of eighty-four. She was born on July 13, 1941, in Beaumont, TX to her parents Y.Z. and Mae Harrison Rainwater. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Marie cherished family time, enjoyed traveling, and the quiet country life. She enjoyed peaceful evenings on the porch swing watching the hummingbirds and chatting with friends. She enjoyed traveling to visit her daughter, Theresa, and family in Colorado at every opportunity. She enjoyed playing games and doing puzzles as a pastime. Mini-golf and bowling were also favorites to enjoy with family. Marie created lasting memories with all her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Theresa Scherenberg, and husband Jose Scherenberg of Littleton, CO; her son Hairl Miller Jr. and wife Rebecca Miller of Rosepine, LA; her grandchildren: Kayla Miller, Ryan Scherenberg, and Gabby Scherenberg; her great grandchildren: Adrian Rodriguez, Jocelyn Rodriguez, and Elijah Miller; her sister, Martha Liston, several nieces and nephews, her family at heart, Christopher Hughes, wife Katie and daughter Emaleigh, and her treasured neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Hairl Miller Sr., her parents, Y.Z. and Mae Rainwater, her brothers Tommy, Ronald, Cecil, Mike, J.W., Raymond Keith, Donald and her sisters, Mary and Margaret Ann.
The funeral service for Marie Miller will be held in the chapel of Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Reverend Cole Weeks will officiate the service. A burial will follow at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields, LA. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue Monday at 9:00 AM until the start of the service at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.
In this time of loss, let us remember Marie's loving spirit and the warmth she brought into our lives. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
