It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Mary Richter Roll, affectionately known as Margo, who left us on February 11, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on September 10, 1931, in Far Rockaway, NY, Margo spent her later years in DeRidder, LA, where she became a beloved fixture in the community.
Margo was much more than an extraordinary artist and dedicated art teacher. She owned Margo's Studio for many years, where she shared her passion for creativity with eager students, both young and old. With her expertise in custom framing and talent for commissioned artwork, Margo left her mark on many homes. Her commitment to the arts extended to her membership in the Real Art Gallery in DeRidder, where her work could be admired and cherished.
A devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Margo's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She actively participated in the Catholic Daughters and the Come Lord Jesus Prayer Group, teaching CCD, and taking part in the ACTS Retreat. Known as a dedicated prayer warrior, she maintained a prayer list to support friends and family in need, always lifting them up in her thoughts and prayers.
Margo was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with a compassionate heart that touched everyone she met. As a devoted military wife, she formed a special bond with the Retired Officers Wives group, where she enjoyed monthly dinners and friendship. She had a green thumb, spending many joyful hours tending to her garden and yard, creating a beautiful space for all to enjoy.
Margo is survived by her children, Duane Roll and Marilyn of Oak Harbor, WA, Lisa Marie Stickler of DeRidder, LA, Stephen Roll and Frances of Sulphur, LA, Marguerite Anne Wood and Jeff of DeRidder, LA, Patrick Dean Roll of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Christina Harris and Jon, Chelsea Theriot and Jacob, Brandy Ribeira, Megan Williams and Tim, Joshua Roll, Caitlin Morris and Kelsey, Cory Avery and Jennifer, Maria Stickler, Zachary Wood and Marissa, Jakub Wood and Lynn, Joshua Wood; great grandchildren, Brandon, Dallayn, Lexi, Sophie, Mackenzie, Mason, Gracelynn, Emma, Evie, Cannon, Hazel Jo, Anna Marie, Amelia, Alayna, Colin, Raegan, Oliver, Kyleigh, Mila Mae, Eli, Nova, Carson, and Ellie, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Her legacy of love and creativity will forever live on in her family and friends who were lucky enough to know her.
Margo is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Roll and her parents, Frank and Margo Richter.
Funeral services will be held to honor Margo's life. A public viewing will take place at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a Rosary that evening at 6:00 PM. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, after which she will be laid to rest with her late husband at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA at 12:30 PM.
Margo will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
