Leatrice Barbee White

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leatrice "Lordy" Barbee White, also known as "The Great White" who was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Born on July 28, 1931, in Rosepine, Louisiana, Leatrice peacefully left this world on August 25, 2026, at the age of 95, in her home in DeRidder, Louisiana. She was one of the most Godly women you would ever meet.

Leatrice was the rock of her family-a true prayer warrior and a lady of testimony. She was the first person anyone turned to when they needed a prayer, always ready to lend an ear and share her steadfast faith. Her unwavering determination to keep her family close and connected was a hallmark of her loving spirit. Leatrice was a mother to everyone, making sure no one ever went hungry, and she was best known for her incredible chicken and dressing that brought everyone together.

Her faith was deep, and she lived out the teachings of God each day. As the oldest member of her church and her neighborhood, she walked the walk, talked the talk, and embodied the life of God's word. Leatrice often wondered why she was still here on earth at 95, and in her heart, she knew it was because she still had work to do-telling everyone she met about God.

Her words of wisdom resonate with her family: "I don't know why, but I know a Man that does." Leatrice's legacy of love, honesty, and devotion will forever inspire those who knew her.

Leatrice is survived by her loving daughters, Judy Riley and Wendy and Ronnie “#1” Moore; grandchildren, Ronnie and Tammy Weldon, Pam and James Sturgeon, Tammy and Billy Jack Stryzewski, Samantha and Dennis McFatter, Michael Greene and Fiance, Chenoa West, Ronnie and Shasta Moore, Jr., Shandy and Shane Bridges; sixteen great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Leatrice was preceded in death by her husbands, James T. (J.T.) White, Joseph Breaux, L.C. Vincent; children, Sharon White, James White, Jr. (Jimbo), Troy White, Nora White, son-in-law, Red Riley, granddaughter, Jennifer Wilcox, great great grandchild, Memphis Grace McFatter, brothers, Sim Barbee, James Barbee; sisters, Beatrice Rea, Blanche Bushnell; father, Jimmy Levi Barbee; mother, Armettie Barbee.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Leatrice's remarkable life. A public visitation will take place at the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 5:00 PM, and will continue until the time of service on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Brother Brad Johnson, Brother Clyde Snider and Brother Haley Smith will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Earl "Bubba" White, Ronnie Weldon, Jr., Ebbie Perkins, Bruce Spence, Glen "BooBoo" Alexander, Richard Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Snapp and Michael Greene. She will be laid to rest at Whitaker Cemetery following the service.

Leatrice White will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those she touched.
