Lawrence Lee Kelting

Lawrence Lee “Larry” Kelting, age 91, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Larry was born on June 26, 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Laurence “Larry” Kelting and Isabelle Kelting.

Larry proudly served his country as a seagoing United States Marine where he served as an Admiral’s Orderly, a distinction that remained a source of great pride throughout his life. He attended Morningside College in Sioux City, where he played tight end on the football team and studied Business and Livestock Management. His education reflected what would become one of the defining pursuits of his life: the cattle business. Larry spent more than 60 years in the cattle industry, building a career around his knowledge of livestock and his love of the business.

On January 9, 1959, Larry married Judy Bunce in Sioux City, Iowa. Together, Larry and Judy shared more than 67 years of marriage, building a life and family together and creating a lifetime of treasured memories.

Larry was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Outside of his work, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed many years on the golf course. He was also proud to have earned his private pilot’s license, reflecting his adventurous spirit and his love of flying.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence “Larry” and Isabelle Kelting, and his sister, Marlene Ann Fuhrman.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; their three children, Kristen Fuller (David) of Rockwall, Texas, Kyle Kelting (Lori) of Amarillo, Texas, and Kerin Morris (Millard) of DeRidder, Louisiana. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who carry forward the family legacy he treasured.

Over the course of his 91 years, Larry built a life centered around family, hard work, faith, and the pursuits he loved. From his proud service as a Marine to more than six decades in the cattle business, from the golf course to the pilot’s seat, Larry lived a full and remarkable life. His greatest legacy, however, can be found in the family he built with Judith and the generations who will continue to cherish his memory.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm before the service.
