Lavell "Pete" Lee Johnson

Pitkin, Louisiana

Lavell “Pete” Lee Johnson, 81 years old, of Pitkin, Louisiana, went to heaven on May 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a cherished and loving father, PawPaw, and a faithful friend to many. Pete was a hardworking business owner where he successfully operated his tire shop, used car lot, and various other businesses in Rosepine, La over the last 48 plus years. His hands not only repaired many tires and vehicles, but also shaped the lives of those around him. Pete faithfully served his community as the District 7 Justice of the Peace for 20 plus years.

Pete's passion for the cowboy lifestyle reflected his adventurous spirit and love for his animals. He greatly enjoyed vacations with his big family and traveling to new places. He had a special love for the mountains of Tennessee and the Painted Desert.

His fun loving personality, integrity, and friendliness earned him respect and admiration from his friends and customers alike. Pete's infectious smile and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone, who were fortunate enough to meet him.

Pete had a great love not only for his immediate family, but his church family, and his devoted pastor; but his main love in life was God. He was a faithful member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in DeRidder, La for 40 plus years.

He is survived by his beloved children: Shonda Burgess and Glynn of Pickering, La, Brent Johnson and Kendra of Pitkin, La, Tanya Jeane and Shane of DeRidder, La, Jamie Johnson and Kelly Blackmon of DeRidder, La, Trista Johnson and Jeremy Glaze of Pitkin, La, and Tamara Johnson of Rosepine, La. His grandchildren; Jimbo Enloe, Natasha Shell and Zack, Dylan Burgess and Madison, Blaize Burgess and Kiley, Logan Cheever, Bryleigh Jeane, Madelyn Holley and Eli, Kayleigh Alexander, Colt Johnson, Case Cheever, Kinzleigh Johnson, and Gatlin Johnson. Along with a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him. Their dad's memory will forever live on in their hearts, as he instilled in them the value of hard work, dedication, resilience, and his passion of living for the Lord.

Pete is also survived by two brothers; Leonard Johnson and Doris of Rosepine, La, Lealon Johnson and Terry of Pitkin, La, one sister; Leola Green and Wayne of Dry Creek, La.

Pete was preceded in death by the love of his life of 51 years, Olivia "Moosie" Johnson, his parents; Levell and Ara Mae Johnson, and one brother; Lee L. Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in DeRidder, Louisiana. Following the service, Pete will be laid to rest in Lone Star Cemetery located in Pitkin, Louisiana.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Pete’s life and legacy during a public viewing at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Tuesday at 1:00 PM. This will be a time for reflection, remembrance, and sharing stories of Pete's life honoring the profound impact that he had on all who knew him.

As we remember, let us remember the wonderful life he lived and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.
