It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Katherine “Kathy” Darlene Hays, born on March 29, 1958, in California, who left this world on May 17, 2026, in DeRidder, Louisiana. Kathy, a beloved daughter, friend, mother, and most of all Mawmaw embraced life with a heart of gold and was known for her unwavering kindness.
Kathy dedicated her life to being a devoted homemaker, pouring her love into her family and creating a warm, welcoming environment for all who entered her home. She was not only a nurturing mother to her children, but also a cherished figure to friends and extended family, treating everyone as if they were part of her own. Her love for cooking and gardening filled her home with warmth and nourishment, and she had a special gift for leaving everyone with a smile. Even after life, Kathy continued to give and was able to impact many lives, there is no better testimony to her character.
She is survived by her best friend/husband; Isaac Hays Sr., her children; Josh Slack Sr., Issac Hays (Kristin), Anthony Torres, Ashley Girdler, Wendi Gibson (Charlie), and Jayde Teague (Linton), siblings; Debbie Perkins, Angela Brumley, and Robert Honea (Mary), and her grandchildren; Austin Howell, Jayden Jensen, Josh Slack, Kameron Kite, Madison Hays, Henry Hays, Carolye Hays, Khloe Slaydon, Charslie Gibson, David Gibson, Heleena Hays, Bradyn Girdler, Bella Torres, Sophie Bellisle, Ayla Teague, Brittany Honea, and Robert Honea Jr.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Ella, and siblings, Marty Honea and Maxine Fitzgerald, and Nephew Jonathan Perkins.
A public viewing at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service that will be held at the same location on May 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Brother Brandon Gill will officiate the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home after services.
