Joy Marie Allen Godbold

Joy Marie Godbold, 89, of Cypress, TX, transitioned to Heaven to be with her Lord, Jesus and her family on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Joy was born on February 18, 1934 to Fred and Lilly Allen in Leesville, LA. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Joy was a fun-loving lady with high goals. She graduated McNeese College and retired from Kraft Foods in Houston, TX. She loved playing golf and delivered meals on wheels for many years.

Joy was a lifetime member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and donated her time for whatever was needed. She was well known for her spaghetti dinners on Friday nights which always sold out. The vets named her “Chef Drill Sergeant”.

Joy was very active in her church, Grace Life in Cypress, TX.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debra White of Cypress, TX, Kelli Moses of Zavalla, TX;  grandchildren, Donnie Faske(Susan), Kathy Hieden, Gus Hieden, Jr., Loretta Hieden, Frank Hieden(Jessica), Stacy O’Brien, Lee Vi Moses(Beth), Lilly Hieden; great grandchildren, Hunter, Madyson, Shea, Shelby, Shaunna, Kassi, Nicholas, Valentina, Frank, Jr., Bailey, Reilly, Jo Lee, Luke, Alex; six great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lilly Allen; brother, Robert Allen; sisters, Freddie Goins, Gloria Lambright.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Dr. Anderson Stricklin will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Lee Vi Moses, Donnie Faske, Frank Hieden, Scott Haley, Nicholas Collins, Hunter Faske. Honorary Pallbearer will be Evin Williams. Burial will follow at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.
