John Malcolm Cardy, Sr.,71, of DeRidder, LA passed from this life peacefully on March 7, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving children. John was born on July 11, 1954, to Tom and Miriam Cardy. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

John greatly enjoyed music, laughter and fishing. He worked for RC Paving as a truck driver before retiring after twenty years. John loved playing pool and had quite the reputation for being a great pool player. More often than not he won and after a while people jokingly stopped volunteering to be his next opponent. He also loved watching football especially his favorite, New Orleans Saints with his daughter. This was always an adventure because she was always screaming at the TV. John would laugh and tell whoever was around y'all might wanna plug your ears cause she is always this worked up.

John is survived by his daughters, Bridgette Jackson of DeRidder, LA, Anna Wedgeworth and Steve of Deridder, LA, Thelma Bloodsworth of Cravens, LA; son, John "Bo" Cardy and Victoria of DeQuincy, LA; grandchildren, Dylan, Trey, Mallory, Victoria, Rose, Abby, Edward, Kyla, Keaton; great granddaughters, Nova, Ellie and Millie; brothers, Tom "Butch" Cardy and Marilyn of Midlothian, VA, Philip Cardy of Fullerton, LA, David Cardy and Michelle of Rosepine, LA; sisters, Dolly Owens and Rodney of Slagle, LA, Connie White and Greg of Fullerton, LA; sister-in-law, Kathy Cardy; his beloved dog, Rocky and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Powers; first wife, Pat Cardy; second wife, Kathy Cardy; parents, Thomas and Miriam Cardy; brother, Ernest Cardy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Fullerton Community Church, 1445 Hwy 399, Pitkin, LA. Visitation will continue Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 8:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM, also at Fullerton Community Church. Reverend Dale Mortenson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Keaton Cardy, Trey Wedgeworth, Steve Wedgeworth, Rodney Owens, David Cardy and Zac Cardy. Burial will follow the service at Glass Window Cemetery in Slagle, LA.

John's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his spirit and love for life will remain in our hearts forever.
