John Paul Abshire

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Paul Abshire, who left us on April 2, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on January 5, 1956, to Adonis and Ozit Abshire. He was known for his infectious laughter, his dedication to work, and his talent for telling jokes that brought smiles to everyone around him.

John dedicated his life to creating cherished memories with his family and teaching them the importance of kindness, humor, and love for the simple pleasures in life. His passion for all types of cars was a testament to his adventurous spirit; he often spent weekends dreaming of his next automotive journey or sharing stories of his past adventures on the open road. 

He is survived by his daughter Joni Pecson and husband John Pecson. His Granddaughter Raphaela Joane Pecson, his siblings, Newton and Faye Abshire and Emma and Willis Oblanc, with a host of nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dora Abshire, his In-Laws Fayrene and Virgil Dick, and his siblings. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Cannon Cemetery. Pastor Trevor Kelley will officiate the services. Visitation will held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 11:00am until 2:00pm, at Myers Colonial Funeral Home.

 May he rest in peace, forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
