Jimmy Lee Deason, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 30, 2025, at the age of 77 in Deridder, Louisiana. Born on November 3, 1947, in DeRidder, Jimmy lived a life full of love for his family and a passion for the great outdoors.
Jimmy met the love of his life, Kathy, on a blind date arranged by a friend of a friend, and together they created a beautiful 57-year marriage filled with laughter and adventure. As a proud Vietnam Veteran, he served in the Army for two years, where he achieved the rank of E-5.
Known for his skills as a carpenter and painter, Jimmy dedicated many years to the construction industry, working for BE&K. Beyond his work, he was most proud of his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kathy Deason of DeRidder, LA; his sons, Gregory Deason (Lisa) and Timothy Deason, all of DeRidder, LA; his grandchildren- Dylan Deason (Kimaron), Payton Deason, Trenton Deason, Skylar Deason, Audrina Deason, Kaytlyn Deason, Tanner Milner, Colter Milner, and Savannah Milner- who were the light of his life, and he delighted in being a great-grandfather to Averi, Jansen, Weston, Charlie, and Oakleigh. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Tilley (Wayne) of New Llano and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and share moments with his loved ones. He also had a passion for gardening, proudly growing the best tomatoes in town, thanks to his green thumb.
Jimmy's family and friends will gather to honor his life on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. A Gathering of Friends will start at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will be rendered following the memorial service. He will be missed dearly but remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for those fortunate enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share a memory of Jimmy or consider contributions to a charity that supports veterans in his honor.
Rest in peace, Jimmy. You will always be in our hearts.
