James Felix Rush

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Felix Rush, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on September 15, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on November 5, 1929, in Hominy, Oklahoma, to his parents James E. Rush and Laura Mantooth Rush. James lived a remarkable life characterized by his unwavering dedication, determination, and an extraordinary work ethic. 

Jim, a proud veteran, served as a Sergeant in the military, where he demonstrated not only his strength but also his commitment to his country and community. His life was rich with wisdom and experience that he generously shared with those around him. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including his Push lawnmower and tending to his yard, which was a testament to his enduring spirit and love for hard work. He cherished the laughter and love of his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are five sons, James Rush Jr of Buna, TX., John Rush of Leesville, LA., Jay and Lugina Rush of Leesville, LA., Jeff and Bertha Rush of Leesville, LA., and Josh and Melissa Rush of Leesville, LA. Sister, Joy Rush Prewitt and husband Jerry of Stroud, OK., and sister in law Marie Rush of Hutchinson, KS., along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. 

Jim was preceded in death by: his parents, former wife Bertha Walker Rush Spears, Daughter, Judy Rush Hilton, and siblings, J.B. Rush, William Rush, Loyld Rush, Violet Ridenour, Mary Goodson, Dora Haen, and Grace Looney.

Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home, and the family will have a private service scheduled for a later date.

In his honor, we encourage all who knew him to remember his kindness and dedication as we reflect on the profound impact he had on the lives of many. His presence will be sorely missed, yet the legacy of love and resilience he leaves behind will be carried on by his family.
