Ilene Stephens Fletcher, 88, of Rosepine, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, March 3, 2022. She was born June 10, 1933 to Oscar and Willie Mae Stephens in Cottonwood, LA.
Ilene Fletcher was a devoted wife, mother and MawMaw to everyone who knew her. She was a nurse at Fort Polk, LA for twenty-six years before retiring and opening a daycare center in Rosepine where she was MawMaw to dozens of children for more than fifteen years. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, going to basketball games and vacationing with her family. Ilene was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Van Fletcher and Patsy of Cottonwood, LA, Danny Fletcher and Barbara of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Lequita Bowers and Myrl “Eddy” of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Tonya Farris and Scott, Lakyn Reeves and Andrew, Van Alan Fletcher and Christine, Rhonda Haines, Daniel Fletcher, II and Brittny, Lacey Blocker and Jeremy; great grandchildren, Haylie, Taylor, Raylen, Wyatt, Madison, Whitney, Patrick, Lani, Alden, Addison, Jalynn, Kane; great-great grandchildren, Hadley, Nolan, Ronnie, Ariel, Lily, Theodore, Evie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Alden Fletcher; parents, Oscar and Willie Stephens; daughter-in-law, Nadine Williams Fletcher.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Rosepine United Pentecostal Church in Rosepine, LA. Pastor Gary Bankson will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Van Alan Fletcher, Wyatt Fletcher, Scott Farris, Eddy Bowers, Andrew Reeves, Daniel Fletcher, II. Burial will follow at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.
