Harvey Earl Hickman

Jul 29, 1937 — Jul 21, 2026

DeRidder, Louisiana

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Harvey Earl Hickman, who left us just shy of his 89th birthday on July 21, 2026. Born on July 29, 1937, in DeRidder, Louisiana, Harvey lived a full and rich life, dedicated to his family, faith, and passions.

Harvey was a proud logger, spending many years working hard in the logging industry. He found joy not only in his work but also in nurturing the land. He was especially proud of the watermelons, muscadines, pears, and blueberries he grew, mostly to share with friends and family-he never did eat them himself!

On August 8, 1958, Harvey married the love of his life, Johnny, and they shared 64 wonderful years together before her passing in 2022. They were active members of the Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse Church, where they found community and joy.

Harvey had a love for fox hunting, a tradition that saw him spending quality time with his brothers, friends, uncles, and sons over the years. That bond with family and friends was one of the great joys of his life.

Harvey is survived by his sons, Sam Hickman of DeRidder, LA and Jimmy "Shorty" Hickman and Victoria of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Cristi Cobb of Extension, LA; sisters, Virginia Seal, Opal Scott, Patti Gonter and Tom; grandchildren, Suzanne Tidwell and Jason, Julie Hickman, Leah Campbell and Daniel, Allen Crowell, III, Toni Hickman, Chance Bond, Kaycee Hickman; fourteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will carry on his memory.

Harvey was preceded in death by his loving wife, Johnny Hickman; parents, Garvis and Clara Hickman; grandson, Chase Hickman; brothers, Garland Hickman, Webster Hickman, Prentice Hickman, George Hickman and James Hickman.

A funeral service will take place at the Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse in DeRidder on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Prior to the service, there will be a public viewing from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, allowing family and friends to gather and pay their respects. Brother Gordon Simmons, Brother Ed Tilley and Brother Allen Bynog will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Harvey will be laid to rest following the service at Old Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.

As we remember Harvey, let us celebrate the joy he brought to everyone around him and the values he instilled in his family. Rest in peace, Harvey. You will be missed.
