Gussie Sarah McKellar Cooley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gussie Sarah McKellar Cooley, who passed away on May 27, 2026, at the age of 71, surrounded by her loving family. Gussie was born on December 12, 1954, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Jewel and Gloria McKellar. 

A dedicated customer service professional with experience in the medical and retail industries, Gussie touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion. She was deeply committed to helping others and found great joy in sharing her love for reading, especially the Bible. Gussie's faith guided her throughout her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

 Gussie is survived by her beloved husband, Willard Cooley Sr., children; James Daniel Fritze, Willard “Bubba” Cooley Jr., Trish Miller (Don), and Amanda Biscamp (Scottie), Siblings; Maxine Patsfield, and Pammie Austin (Willie), A very special niece/ daughter Toko Wallace (Raymond), six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with a host of nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by parents, and sister Marybeth Durkes.

 Funeral services will be held at the Sugartown Pentecostal Church on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 11:00am, Brother Tim Denson, Brother Zale Lewis, Brother Chance Lewis, and Brother Benjamin Austin will officiate the service. A public viewing will take place on Sunday May 31, 2026, from 5:00pm till 8:00pm and resumes on Monday from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Burial will follow the service in Sugartown Cemetery.
