Glenda Monica Wilson, 87, of Nederland, passed away on October 31, 2025, at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves, Texas. She was born on March 2, 1938, to the late Floyd E. Reeves and Clytie Tyler Reeves.
In her quiet and gentle way, Monica embodied the spirit of familial connection. She was a loving wife, mother, Mammaw, and great Mammaw.
Those left behind to cherish Monica's memory are her daughters, Paula M. Rich, Rhonda M. Wilson, grandchildren, Justin Ray Thomas and his wife, Melissa, Phillip Douglas Thomas and his wife Gillian Shapiro, Jennifer Thomas LaFleur and her husband, Brandon, and Leslie P. Robinson, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her immediate family, Monica is mourned by her sister, Veronica Whitethorn, and her sister-in-law Clare Reeves.
Monica is preceded in death by her parents, along with her loving husband of 66 years, Lawrence Ray Wilson, daughter Sandra Wilson, grandson Slayton Rich, her sister, LaJuan Gill, and her brother, Rodney Dale Reeves.
Monica Wilson leaves behind a world more beautiful simply because she was in it. Her devotion to her family and her warm, welcoming spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 12:00pm in the chapel of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Burial will follow the service in Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 07, 2025, from 10:00am until the service at 12:00pm.
In honoring her incredible spirit and love for her family, let us remember Monica for the joy she brought into our lives and the countless ways she cared for those around her.
