George Michael Harvey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Michael Harvey, who left us peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on August 13, 1953, in Deridder, Louisiana, to George and Mable Smith Harvey. George spent his life dedicated to his family and his passion for mechanics. A skilled mechanic in the automotive industry, he found joy in working with his hands and took great pride in every project he undertook.

 An avid lover of the outdoors, George found peace in nature, particularly when fishing in his favorite spots or sharing stories— whether they true tales of his adventures or make-believe that brought laughter and joy. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember his warm spirit, his generous heart, and his ability to connect with others through storytelling.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50years Jennifer Harvey, their children: David Harvey, Paula Gandy (Terry Morris), and Wendy Harvey (Marcus Richard), 8 Grandchildren: Kailey, Kade, Konner, Karter Richard, Micah, Nevaeh Gandy, Skyla Harvey, and Davin Harvey. With a host of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Christopher Harvey, and siblings; Sam Harvey and Connie Keel.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00am in the chapel of Smyrna Baptist Church. Brother Tim Lee will officiate the service. Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will continue on Friday at 9:00am until the 11:00am service. Cremation will follow the service under Myers Colonial Funeral Home.

He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. May he rest in peace, and smile be cherished for many more generations.
