It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Floyd Matthew Bullitt, a beloved father, husband, son, brother and friend, who left us on May 18, 2026, at the age of 46. Floyd was born on August 8, 1979, in Lake Charles, LA, raised in Merryville, LA and he called DeQuincy home for many years.
Floyd was a dedicated truck driver in the chemical industry, known for his hard work and commitment. He had a deep love for his family, making family time a top priority. You could often find him with a fishing rod in hand, casting a line and making lasting memories by the water. An avid LSU football fan and NASCAR enthusiast, Floyd could always be counted on to cheer loudly for his favorite teams.
A true food lover, Floyd would travel anywhere just to try a new restaurant or satisfy his cravings. He had a zest for life and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Floyd is survived by his devoted wife of nine years, Brittany Bullitt of DeQuincy, LA; mother, Margaret Bullitt of Merryville, LA; sons, Shelton Bullitt and Bella Pence of Carlyss, LA, Chance Rosenstein of DeQuincy, LA; daughters, Ashlyn Bullitt of Dry Creek, LA, Kelsey Bullitt of DeQuincy, LA; brother, Merlin Jones and Joey of Leesville, LA; sisters, Teresa Willis and Chris of the Junction, Beverly McKenzie of Merryville, LA, LaRetha Bullitt of Merryville, LA, Georgetta Babin and Daryl of Merryville, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Bullitt.
A funeral service to honor Floyd's life will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM, preceded by a public viewing starting at 10:00 AM. Reverend Guy Snyder will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Shelton Bullitt, Daryl Babin, Steven Speights, Nate Mire, James Bullitt, Merlin Jones. Burial will follow the service at Rigmaiden Cemetery in DeQuincy, LA. Family and friends are invited to come share their memories and celebrate the remarkable life of a truly wonderful man.
Floyd may have left this world, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
