Ethel Lee Spikes

April 23, 1938 — July 1, 2025

DeRidder, Louisiana

Ethel Spikes was born April 23, 1938, to the late Fred and Emma Spikes in Bancroft, LA. Ethel transitioned peacefully from this world at the age of 87 with her nieces, Linda and CoCo by her side. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was member of Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ.

Ethel was a graduate of Carver High School in DeRidder, LA. She went on to attend Southern Central Laborers Training in Baton Rouge, LA where she earned certifications in Construction Management. Ethel was selfless, she enjoyed meeting and helping people. Her career path allowed her to do just that. Ethel worked as a Civil Service Servant at Fort Polk, LA and later retired. After retirement she continued serving and helping her community as a member of C&B Community Organization.

Ethel or "Bubba" as her family and friends lovingly referred to her as, was the life of any party and the peacekeeper among her family. She loved sports and never missed an opportunity to attend the Bayou Classic.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Emma Spikes; brother, Sam Spikes and twin brother, Edward Spikes.

She leaves to cherish her memory: brothers, Chester "Bill" Spikes, Roy Spikes, Elmer Spikes, all of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Azzie Lee Davis, Alberta Spikes-Lewis, both of DeRidder, LA; Roberta Thompkins of Houston, TX; Hattie Moore (Alfred) of Sacremento, CA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Spikes of DeRidder, LA; three best friends, Linda Davis and Mattie Bee Spikes of DeRidder, LA and AnaRose Jackson of Virginia Beach, VA and a host of grandchildren, great greatchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of Ethel's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Norris Memorial Church of God in Christ in DeRidder, LA. The public viewing will take place starting at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to join us in remembering this wonderful woman.
